Ban’s certified their one-millionth diver some years ago, a milestone that reflects both their longevity and their volume. This is Koh Tao’s factory — and that’s not entirely a criticism. The logistics are smooth, the boats run on time, and the equipment is well-maintained.

Where Ban’s can feel impersonal is in the student-to-instructor ratio: during peak season, courses can run with groups closer to the PADI maximum of 8 students per instructor. If you want a crowd, a party, and a solid cheap certification, Ban’s is your spot. If you want personalised attention, a smaller operation may suit you better.
