- Marine sanctuary — excellent fish diversity

- One of Phuket's most popular dive sites for good reason
Shark Point — or Hin Musang in Thai — is a protected marine sanctuary east of Phuket and one of the most consistently rewarding dive sites in the Andaman Sea. Three submerged pinnacles rising from 26 metres to 6 metres below the surface provide a varied dive with excellent marine life encounters.
Leopard Sharks
The site’s most celebrated residents are the leopard sharks that rest motionless in the sandy gullies between the pinnacles. These spectacular spotted sharks, reaching up to 2.5 metres, are completely harmless and entirely indifferent to divers. Finding 3–5 of them resting together is commonplace, and the sight of these prehistoric-looking animals in such perfect repose, surrounded by coral, is one of the enduring images of Phuket diving.
The Pinnacles
The pinnacles themselves are worth exploring independently of the sharks. The hard coral coverage is excellent, the sea fan gardens are among the most developed in the Andaman, and the diversity of macro life — nudibranchs, harlequin shrimp, frogfish — rewards a slow, searching approach.
Hawksbill turtles graze on the sponges in the shallower sections, and the ever-present moray eels peer from crevices throughout the site.
As Part of a Triple
Shark Point is almost always dived as part of a day trip that also visits Anemone Reef and the King Cruiser Wreck — three contrasting sites that between them showcase the full range of Phuket’s underwater world.
